Pastor Vatroslav Župančić, Elder of the Evangelical Methodist Church in Croatia, participated at the first General Conference of the Global Methodist Church, held in San Jose, Costa Rica, from September 19 to 26 under the motto: “So The World Will Know”. In addition to participating in discussions and conversations, Pastor Vatroslav awarded a certificate of appreciation from the GMC in Croatia to the Rev. Keith Boyette, President of the GMC, for his selfless contribution and support to the church in Croatia. In addition to the working part of the conference, the delegates also visited the college of the Methodist Church of Costa Rica: “Colegio Metodista”, which is one of the best schools in this Central American country due to its program and approach to learning. The General Conference made many decisions that will steer this Methodist denomination toward its Wesleyan heritage and tradition: evangelism, mission, and care for the weak and needy. It was also emphasized that due to the growing anti-Christian trends and cultural challenges of today, it is necessary to strengthen doctrinal clarity and biblical literacy as the foundation of the Global Methodist Church. Representatives of the Methodist churches from Europe that have joined the GMC agreed that they will continue to work on better connection and joint action in order to promote the vision and program of our common Methodist denomination in the secularized environment of contemporary Europe.
